Abstract

Specimens of NP-2 nickel, measur ing 40 • • ram, were used; binary alloys of nickel with t i ta nium, aluminum, manganese, sil icon, z i rconium, and commerc ia l ly pure nickel NP-2 were deposited onto their edges in an argon a tmosphere , using a nonconsumable tungsten electrode. The alloys were produced by the e lec t ros lag r eme l t i ngp roces s , under an oxygen-free flux of nickel and the pure alloying elements in the fo rm of powder o r wire, in a definite proport ion. The ingots, about 2 kg in mass , were subsequently rolled to 3-4 mm thick plates which were then cut into the rods that are used for the deposition of meta ls .
