Abstract

Following the idea of Birney, Burdick, and Teevan that the Hostile Press measure of fear of failure has to do with a fear of being a failure in the eyes of others, a correlational analysis of the relationships between Hostile Press and Wolpe and Lang's Fear Survey Schedule was undertaken. It was predicted that Hostile Press would correlate with those fears which had to do with failing in the eyes of others and not with any other kinds of fears. It is suggested that the results bear out the hypothesis.
