Abstract

This article describes a case study of a six-week long international collaborative learning project using technology in hospitality and tourism classes. University students in the United States partnered with students in Mexico to better understand sustainability practices in hotels via video conferences and online group projects. The case study summarizes students’ perceptions of the educational experience via observations, surveys, and student reflections. Students’ experiences were primarily positive; however, communication and technological issues were present. Overall, the project produced encouraging results and recommendations are made to assist with future applications of this type of project in hospitality and tourism education.
