Abstract

Hospital infections are the most frequent and important complications occurring in hospitalized patients. The concern is greater when the affected hospital infection are neonates admitted to intensive care units where the risk increases due to factors such as prematurity, low birth weight, types of procedures adopted and susceptibility due to their immature immune system. The prevention and control measures involve detection of hospital infection, development of norms of standardization, collaboration with the training of all health professionals, achieving control of antibiotic prescription and technical support for hospital administration.
