Abstract

Bandsawing deviations pose a great challenge to the horizontal metal bandsawing process. Based on the results of bandsawing experiments with difficult to machine Inconel 718, insight into deviation behavior is expanded. Both the influences of tool wear and cutting parameters are investigated with additional measurements of thrust force and bandsaw blade deflection. The results show clear correlations for the influencing factors of deviation. Behavior for different regimes is investigated and potentials for further development of bandsawing theory are highlighted.
