Abstract
Hookah smoking is becoming increasingly common in youth. It is introduced to teens as a healthy alternative to cigarette smoking. But scientific research has yielded some startling results pointing to the fact that Hookah smoking is not at all a safe alternative as proclaimed by many. Hookah smoke contains high levels of toxic compounds including tar, carbon monoxide, heavy metals and carcinogens. All these make Hookah a potential health hazard causing perilous effects on Oral as well as general well being. This article foregrounds the working and Oral effects of Hookah smoking and role of dental professional in cessation of this dreadful habit.
