Abstract

The diploma in implant dentistry, one of many successful educational programmes developed by the FGDP(UK), comprises 16 weekend units of study culminating in a rigorous assessment. Integral to the course is a craniofacial anatomy module, in which under supervision the participants perform a sequence of detailed dissections on cadaver heads, with a view to reinforcing their understanding of surgical anatomy relevant to general and implant dentistry. Interspersed with the dissection sessions are five or six tutorials, each intended as a prelude to the dissection exercise.
