Abstract

Prior to the introduction of high resolution spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) to quantify the thickness of the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) and the ganglion cell complex (GCC) in vivo, there was limited understanding of the retinal manifestation of posterior visual pathway anomalies in humans. This clinical picture illustrates a case of retrograde trans-synaptic retinal degeneration in an adult male due to an occipital lobe injury.
