Abstract

Introduction: Cerebrovascular diseases include a wide range of diseases and disorders based on damage to the blood vessels of the brain. Disorders in the visual field can be caused by various neurological and ocular diseases. Most patients with optic disc drusen are subjectively without symptoms and their visual acuity is good, mainly due to the conservation of the central part of the visual field, but there are defects present on the periphery. Aim: Stroke is one of the greatest public health and socio-economic problems. Primary prevention of stroke involves primarily a change in lifestyle. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the application of adequate and continuous treatment, as well as the necessity of vision rehabilitation. Materials and methods: The material used for the purpose of making this report included medical records of the patient, his personal and medical documentation. A retrospective analysis of this medical documentation was then applied. Case report: The paper presents the case of a 36-year-old male with changes in visual field, which developed in the ophthalmologist's opinion, as a consequence of an ischemic stroke. Any defect in the visual field leads to the reduction of visual abilities and changes normal daily functioning. Conclusion: Cerebrovascular diseases include a wide range of diseases and disorders based on damage to the blood vessels of the brain. Depending on whether the defect is on one or both eyes, impairment of visual ability is estimated. Contemporary researches emphasize the importance of vision rehabilitation in order to improve patient's performance of daily activities, and to achieve the best possible recovery results.
