Abstract

Artificial ureter defects in dogs were replaced by homologous ureter grafts. Twenty-four experiments were carried out. The grafts without being necrotized underwent a certain reconstruction. Good functional and anatomical results were obtained in 11 cases. Fibrosis in the walls resulted in a slight reduction of the lumen and a shrinkage of the graft without any significant interference with the function of the ureter. These results indicate that the homologous graft is of value in experimental replacement of defects in the urether.
