Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to present an application of the generalised stochastic perturbation technique to model the stochastic ageing processes of fibre-reinforced periodic composite materials in terms of their effective properties. The response surface method is used to detect, for various time moments of the ageing process, the analytical interrelations between the effective elasticity tensor components and the composite parameters exposed to the ageing phenomena. A numerical procedure based on the finite-element code MCCEFF and the system MAPLE is used to model ageing of glass–epoxy composites, but it may find general application in the reliability analysis of other composite structures.
