Abstract

This work analyzes the electrochemical behavior of anion from anthraquinone,1-amino-4-hidroxy-2-phenoxyanthraquinone, trade name, disperse red 60 (DR60), in the presence of dioxygen and water in acetonitrile solutions. The interaction of the DR60 radical anion with water in the system, verified by digital fitting procedures, affects the first reduction process of DR60. A process of homogeneous charge transfer between the reduced intermediate of the anthraquinone DR60 with dioxygen was identified by cyclic voltammetry and bulk electrolysis. The value of the equilibrium constant of the homogeneous charge transfer was determined (K eq = 2.013)
