Abstract

Summary form only given. The characterization of ultrashort optical pulses has become an important tool in today's laboratory. As pulse bandwidths increase, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain accurate measurements. We show here that the implementation of Spectral Phase Interferometry for Direct Electric-field Reconstruction (SPIDER) by homodyning the interferogram using an uncharacterized reference pulse allows one to perform accurate measurements.
