Schultz. “Homocellular regulatory mechanisms in sodium-transporting epithelia: avoidance of extinction by flush-through.” Page 588: in footnote 5 the paper by Hoffman and Tosteson ( J. Gen. Physiol. 58: 438–466, 1971) was erroneously cited for finding that differences in cation composition between HK and LK sheep erythrocytes are the results of changes in both the Na-K pump and the K leak and the suggestion that the “…molecular mechanism of pump and leak may be closely related.” The correct citation is Tosteson and Hoffman ( J. Gen. Physiol. 44: 169–194, 1960).
