Individually marked wood turtles were observed and radio-tracked from 19841989. More than 10,800 turtle locations were mapped, and home ranges were determined by quadrat summation. Six adult males that were tracked for 3-5 yr had 95% home ranges that averaged 3.79 ha (SD = 1.40) and mean total ranges of 4.99 ha (SD = 1.48). Four adult females' 95:pc ranges averaged 2.55 ha (SD = 0.45), and their total ranges averaged 3.30 ha (SD = 0.52). Some individuals exhibited seasonal or yearly variation in home-range use, whereas others used the same areas consistently. Home-range sizes varied in both sexes but were not correlated with mass or with dominance rank in males. All turtles had home
