Home office as new approach to smart city idea in pandemic time

Abstract

The aim of the article was to investigate and analyze correlation between home office and re-mote work solution and Smart City idea in pandemic time. The research was develop on the ba-sis the following research methods: literature and legal acts analysis, market situation review, statistical data analysis and survey research. The time scope of the survey research covered the period 2020. The research was carried out in two directions. The first area concerned the spread of remote work in Polish enterprises during the pandemic. The second area concerned the study of this phenomenon in the case of companies from the logistics industry. The diagnosis of the prevalence of remote work among Polish enterprises and the analysis of the survey results showed that during the pandemic, solutions typical of the Smart City concept, working from home or working remotely have become a reality for many organizations. Remote work has become, in the case of many organizations, the basic form of work. However, the necessary legal and organizational solutions in this area do not keep up with the speed and universality of re-mote work implementation. The results of the diagnosis in the field of implementing remote work solutions and the results of research conducted by companies from the logistics industry can be used as reference material in further research on remote work as one of the Smart City concepts in other industries and types of organizations, e.g. public.
