Abstract

A novel holographic encryption by using random phase modulation of plane wave is proposed. This is implemented by illuminating a random phase mask inserted in front of an input image with a uniform plane wave. Numerical decryption results verify that the proposed method can eliminate drawbacks of the conventional method caused by multiple convolution processes and a limitation of the CCD sensor resolution. Consequently, besides having high encryption security, the proposed method can improve the quality of decrypted images.
