Abstract

Electrical conductivity was employed in a technique for measuring holdup profiles in packed bubble columns and cocurrent upward gas—liquid flow through packed beds. The holdup profiles were noticeably different in the two cases investigated. Two correlations of the data under cocurrent flow conditions were developed; in both cases the fit between the correlation and the data was very good.
