Abstract

A correlation has been developed for the estimation of holdup in horizontal slug flow from the relationship of the bubble velocity and the liquid slug Reynolds number. Simple models for slug flow heat transfer based upon the momentum-heat transfer analogy for turbulent flow and the Graetz-Leveque equation for laminar flow are found to give reasonable agreement with the limited experimental data for horizontal gas—liquid slug flow.
