Abstract

In the pool of characters of The Tale of Kieu by the great poet Nguyen Du, Hoan Thu is a special one. Nguyen Du loved Thuy Kieu the most but was especially successful in creating the image of Hoan Thu. Through a scene of jealousy, he uncovered the social nature in the character, and through which reflected the Vietnamese feudal society in the 18th and 19th centuries. The diverse dialogue and monologue language contributes greatly in the perfect and unique depiction of the personality of Hoan Thu, and through which delivers in a special manner the message of the work and the richly humane philosophical concepts of the poet, making the masterpiece The Tale of Kieu a great success and bringing it to the top of Vietnam`s literature.
