Abstract

The formation of HIV-1 immature virion hexagonal lattice and of different size polygons in two dimensions using simple patchy particle models is reported here. The simple models are formed with repulsive Lennard–Jones disks with different arrays of patches. All the patches have the same diameter, cutoff radius and potential well depth. The attractive Lennard–Jones patches have all the same diameter, cutoff radius and potential well depth. Number, positions and distances of the patches from the central vary among different molecular models. Besides the HIV-1 immature virion hexagonal network and different size polygons, other lattices formation includes Kagome, deformed Kagome, hexagonal and square network lattices. The formation of triplets and pairs of patches is also reported.
