Abstract

300 patients with sudden deafness were randomly divided into 2 groups: Control group of 150 patients was treated with conventional drug therapy, and study group of 150 patients was treated with conventional drug regimens combining with hyperbaric oxygen, 60 minutes per day for 10 days.Patients with sudden deafness treated with high-pressure oxygen combined with drugs have good hearing improvement rate of 34.8%, and good and average hearing improvement rate of 70.7%, that is higher than drug therapy alone, that is 27.3% of good hearing improvement and 57.8% of good and average hearing improvement (p < 0.05). Patients under age 50 have hearing improvement rate (37.4% good, good and average 72.5%) higher than patients aged 50 or older (28% good, 66% good and average) (p > 0.05); patients starting treatment within 7 days have hearing improvement rate (40% good, good and average 76.5%) higher than patients starting treatment after 7 days (25.8% good, good and average 60.6%) (p < 0.05).
