Abstract

This essay analyses the different interpretations in the Brazilian historiography on the Paraguayan War. The political context in which they originated, their motivations and methodological bases are analyzed. These interpretations are exposed following a chronological order: memorialistic regarding the actors involved in the war; positivist; classical; revisionist and the systemic-regional or the New Historiography on the Triple Alliance War.
