Abstract

This article discusses the issues and problems of interpreting the history of the Great Silk Road at the present stage. The general geopolitical tension between East and West became overt, which directly affected the development of the ancient transcontinental corridor. The functioning of the Great Silk Road is under threat, since the natural transport corridor today cannot operate fully, but its socio-cultural and humanitarian component does not cease to serve as an exchange of ideas and opinions. The materials in the article may be useful as part of preparation in the areas of International Relations and Foreign Regional Studies.
