Abstract
Hereditary angioedema (HAE) causes swelling in the skin and airways and pain in the abdomen due to mucosal swelling. HAE is frequently unrecognized and misdiagnosed, leading to delays in diagnosis, inadequate treatment, and potentially unnecessary procedures. We evaluated the history of misdiagnosis in patients who are participating in an international registry, the Icatibant Outcome Survey (IOS; NCT01034969).
