Abstract

The history of Burnet County is of some interest because it presents a glimpse into the life of the people in the Hill Country of Texas. The collection and assimilation of information concerning the development of the present citizenry was of genuine interest to me as these people were those with whom I have lived a greater portion of my life. Most of the materials used in the compilation of this thesis were taken from the personal files or recollections of people of the county and from the records in the county court house. The fact that the official records were destroyed by fire complicated the problem of research. Other documents and descriptions of historic importance were found in the State Library in Austin and in the Library of The University of Texas
