Abstract

This paper explores the history of commercial law from ancient times to the Middle Ages, focusing on the impact of various civili- zations, including the Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs, on its development. The article also examines how commer- cial practices were transferred from one nation to another, which led to the creation of lex mercatoria, the first phase in the development of modern (international) commercial law.
