Abstract

Abstract Issues that have been debated throughout the history of drug metabolism are still disputed to some degree. Physiological function of drug metabolism has broadened to include endogenous compounds and endogenous regulatory pathways. The article offers insights into the history of drug metabolism studies, with special emphasis on enzymatic metabolism of drugs.
