Abstract
Abstract This paper is a review article of the extensive literature that has appeared in the past 15 years or so examining the historical long-term mobility of prominent visual artists, composers, and authors. The extent to which such mobility is linked to location and age is one key focus of the paper. The extent to which creative output is linked also to age is examined. Some of the papers, using very different methodologies, attempt to estimate the boost to creative output arising from such mobility, especially where it led to clustering.
