Abstract
The Caryocar coriaceum is a species of native cerrado plant of the Chapada, Araripe and its fruit is popularly known as pequi. The pequi pulp oil has a high nutritional value, rich in oleic acid and is used in folk medicine as anti-inflammatory and healing. The study aims to obtain information in PubMed databases from 2009 to 2014 using as descriptors Caryocar coriaceum, pequi, pequi oil, anti-inflammatory property also know the applicability in folk medicine. Thus it becomes important studies that evidences the pharmacological potential of pequi pulp, oil and for this purpose, there are few scientific reports to the species present in of the Chapada Araripe - CE.
