Abstract

This paper examines the patterns that characterize the development of historic sites archaeology in Mexico. It emphasizes studies conducted by Mexican researchers. The major trends of historical archaeology in the nation have been influenced by the following factors: the prevailing definition of archaeology, the limits imposed by building restoration programs, and the lack of a theoretical framework and hypothesis in the majority of studies.
