Abstract

Histoplasmosis is a rare fungal disease in the immunocompetent. Aim of this study is to discuss cases of difficult diagnosis from a rare case. Observation: twenty-three-year-old patient with no history of pathology received for abdominal pain, associated with headache, palpitations and chronic constipation. Physical examination found a good general condition, normal constants, moderate abdominal pain at the deep palpation of the umbilical region. Computer Tomography (CT) showed a tissue process of the mesentery and diffuse lesions of bilateral pulmonary lymphangioleiomatosis. HIV serology was normal. Surgical exploration found a tumor of the mesentery of 4cm. A resection of the tumor was carried out, with 20cm of small bowels followed by intestinal anastomosis. Consequences of surgical operation were simple. Histology of the surgical specimen was in favor of histoplasmosis. Conclusion: histoplasmosis is a rare fungal infection in its mesenteric location, especially in the immunocompetent subject. Keywords: histoplasmosis; Immunocompetent; Mesentery
