Abstract

Pharmacognostic investigation of fresh plant and anatomical sections of leaf, stem, root of calotropis gigantean Linn were carried out to microscopical studies for micro-morphological and presence of uni to biseriate modulary rays, pitted, xylem fibers, big vessels in groups, xylem parenchyma, pith, calcium oxalate crystal,lignifed fibers. All part taste is acrid bitter. these findings will be useful towards establishing pharmacognostic standards on identification, purity, quality and classification of the plant ,which is gaining relevance in plant drug research. Therefore this work has aimed to investigate the leaf , stem and root anatomy in order to contribute to the medicinal plant identification and to investigate their secondary metabolites content.
