Abstract

Everything is very quietEveryone has gone to sleepI'm wide awake on memoriesThese memories can't waitThese memories can't waitDavid Byrne/Jerry Harrison, 1979Late 2013. The History, Theory, Criticism course offers a group of courses that participate in the Master's Options programmes of the ULB La Cambre Horta Faculty of Architecture. In this academic year I propose to the students to conduct interviews with architects chosen among those who started working in the fifties and sixties. The initial idea is to confront the younger generation with a little-known era and to question the practices, ambitions, successes and disappointments of past decades, professional paths, theoretical and sometimes - more simply - cultural and human concerns. At the heart of these interviews, the students will try to tell the stories of these authors, to favour a narrative approach while trying to bring out their choices, their positions and their opinions on architecture. At the same time, they will let the story of each one come to the fore, their retroactive view.
