Abstract

The course of the atrophy and degeneration of type I- and type II-muscle fibres of the dorsal cricoarytenoid muscle of the dog after resection of the ipsilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve was studied in six dogs. The histochemical and histometrical results reveal no supplementary innervation of this muscle and confirm the classical descriptions of laryngeal anatomy by Onodi (1902); Vogel (1952); Hara and Miller (1964).
