Abstract
Summary G-6-PDH was histochemically demonstrated in the normal and regenerating tail of the house lizard, Hemidactylus flaviviridis. High enzyme activity in epidermal cells of normal and regenerating tail skin and wound epithelial cells indicates utilization of glycogen through the pentose phosphate cycle. The skeletal muscles of normal tail, blastema cells, differentiating muscle and cartilaginous cells suggest operation of the HMP shunt which provides pentose sugars and NADPH for nucleic acid, fatty acid, and probably also for polysaccharide synthesis.
