Abstract

The article focuses on research into the composition of breast milk in humans and other mammals and the effects infant gender and conditions has on changes in milk composition. It states that researchers found mothers in rural Kenya with sons usually had milk with greater fat content while poor women favored daughters and had creamier milk. It mentions research published in the "American Journal of Physical Anthropology" that studied milk composition in red deer, gray seals, and rhesus macaques.
