Abstract

Hirsutella thompsonii, a hyphomycetous fungus, was found attacking the citrus rust mitePhyllocoptruta oleivora for the first time in May, 1972, in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Sharp reductions in mite populations occurred during this period. The fungus was isolated from mites collected from citrus fruits and leaves. The parasitic nature and the distribution of the pathogen are described.
