Abstract

Heard the one about the IT director who hired an ex-hacker to secure his network? Would you be disappointed if there's no punch line? It is actually a statement of fact. Indeed, the latest research shows that 20% of businesses are turning to ex-hackers to put their networks through their paces and 37% are thinking about it.Ex-hackers can test your strategy in a way you'd probably never be brave enough to try any other way. And if they can break your systems then you know other hackers can too.Although they could be seen as a threat, companies that are working with former hackers actually find they gain immeasurable benefit from the insights they can offer. They can spot the weaknesses in a product design well before the product is made, explains Adrian Crawley of Radware.
