Abstract

Rates of cannabis use amongst pregnant women continue to rise, yet limited research has examined cannabis effects in the developing human fetal brain. Research in animals suggests that prenatal THC exposure alters gene expressions, endocrine functions, and neuronal development in the brain leading to the suggestion that human prenatal THC exposure may alter large scale neural system connectivity.
