Abstract
Progression of chronic renal insufficiency is, directly or indirectly, reflected on all tissues and organs, thus also on the eye. The aim of the study was to confirm and categorize hypertensive retinopathy in pop-dialyzed and dialyzed patients with chronic renal insufficiency. Examination of the fundus was performed in maximum mydriasis by methods of direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy. Hypertensive retinopathy represents the most often findings on the eye fundus at patients with chronic renal insufficiency (53.3%). Majority of the patients both in the group of nondialyzed and dialyzed patients had a second degree of hypertensive retinopathy. In patients who are in pre-dialysis phase, there is a greater incidence of more serious degrees of hypertensive retinopathy (III i IV) in comparison with the patients on dialysis, which is the consequence of hypervolemia, retention of liquid and salt in the body.
