Abstract

Background: Altered hip adductor muscle activation patterns are associated with hip/groin pain in multidirectional sport athletes. Muscle functional magnetic resonance imaging (mfMRI) can evaluate activation patterns in deep and superficial muscles independently and has been successfully used for the hamstring muscles assessment, but not yet for hip adductor muscles. Analysis of individual athletes’ hip adductor spatial activation patterns may uncover new knowledge leading to targeted interventions.
