Abstract

Summary: Surgical management of the adult flatfoot includes soft tissue reconstructive/tendon substitution procedures, hindfoot osteotomies, and hindfoot arthrodesis. The extent of arthrodesis can range from subtalar fusion to triple arthrodesis. The determination of which surgical procedures to use depends on the nature of the deformity, its extent, and patient factors such as age, activity, expectations, and comorbid conditions.
