She focuses on sociocultural and medical anthropology. Her current research, which is generously supported by the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program, examines the political and economic histories of pain and pain relief in the United States, specifically as they relate to experiences of capitalism in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
