Abstract

This study focuses on the planning of highway coach transport system based on the actual conditions of highway coach operation and traffic characteristics of inhabitants along a highway in TOHOKUT. he results are as follows. 1) Operation frequency of the highway coach exerts an influence on the passenger demand considerably. 2) Highway coach stop facilities and accessibility to highway coach stop are insufficient. 3) By constructing free parking space near the highway coach stop and increase in operation frequency of the highway coach, it is expected not only conversion of modal choice from car to highway coach but also increase in the opportunity of out going trips.It is necessary to investigate the construction of the highway coach stop on highway and matching the schedule of highway coach to the traffic behavior of inhabitants.
