Kielkopf, J. ; Brashear, R. ; Lattis, J. Abstract The nearby galaxy NGC 4151 is an intermediate-type Seyfert galaxy with both broad and narrow components. The spectra considered in this paper were taken with the KPNO coude feed telescope on 1984 April 8 and July 23, using camera 5 and grating B (316 grooves per mm) with a T(I) three-phase 800 x 800 CCD detector. One exposure was also taken on April 5. Attention is given to the spectrum of the nucleus of NGC 4151 on 1984 April 8 in the region surrounding the H-alpha line, the spectrum of the nucleus of NGC 4151 on 1984 April 5 in the region surrounding the H-beta line, the spectrum of the nucleus of NGC 4151 on 1984 July 23 in the region surrounding the H-alpha line, and properties of individual clouds in the nucleus of NGC 4151. The obtained results show that observations with high spectral resolution and low noise can be used to discern the presence in the nucleus of individual clouds moving at different velocities even though they are not spatially resolved.
