Abstract

A novel design for compact tunable dual-band EBG (Electromagnetic Bandgap) filter is proposed. The tunable filter is implemented in RO4350 substrate using PCB (Printed Circuit Board) process with surface mounted solid-state varactors and lumped capacitors. The Alter is unique that by sharing same substrate and surrounding posts, tunable dual-band filter can be achieved in a compact size with good band to band isolation and wide spurious free region. Besides, frequencies of dual passbands can be independently tuned to customizable selected frequencies by changing applied DC voltage of varactors. Finally, the simulated and measured results of the filter are found in good agreement.
