Abstract
This paper considers the prediction of high-pressure VLE with cubic equations of state, extending work presented at the 1984 Otto Redlich symposium (Tsonopoulos and Heidman, 1985). Three cubic equations of state are examined: Redlich-Kwong-Soave, Peng-Robinson, and the cubic chain-of-rotators. The capabilities of these equations are tested against vapor pressure data for selected components and VLE data for mixtures containing H 2, CO 2, or water. Both conventional and the more recent local composition mixing rules are used in the calculations, and correlations are presented for the binary interaction parameter used in the conventional mixing rules.
