Abstract

We present high-pressure resistivity and resonant magnetic X-ray diffraction results on single crystals of the system Ce(Fe 1− x Co x ) 2 with x = 0.07 and 0.1 where cobalt doping stabilises an antiferromagnetic phase at low temperatures. We show that on the x = 0.07 compound the effect of pressure is to increase the Néel temperature whereas in the x = 0.1 system T N decreases with applied pressure. These results show that there is a qualitative equivalence between the effects of pressure and cobalt doping in this system.
