Abstract

The properties of Nd 3+ : POCl <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> -ZrCl <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">4</inf> and SnCl <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">4</inf> liquid lasers were investigated. Stimulated-emission cross section, loss coefficient, and terminal-level lifetime were determined. Thermal effect and amplification characteristics were studied. According to the experimental data, the POCl <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> liquid laser seems to be useful for a high-power laser system under suitable arrangements.
